Was ist LEADER?

Seit 1991 fördert die Europäische Union (EU) mit LEADER Projekte, Investitionen und Aktionen, die zu einer nachhaltigen Stärkung ländlicher Räume beitragen. Voraussetzung ist, dass diese Projekte in einer anerkannten Leaderregion umgesetzt werden. Die Abkürzung LEADER steht dabei für die aus dem Französischen übersetzte Bedeutung „Verbindung zwischen Aktionen zur Entwicklung der ländlichen Wirtschaft“.

Was ist eine LEADER-Region?

LEADER-Regionen sind gut abgrenzbare, zusammenhängende ländliche Gebiete, die mindestens 50.000, maximal 150.000 Einwohner haben. Innerhalb dieser Gebiete werden im Rahmen von LEADER neue Entwicklungskonzepte, die auf lokaler Ebene Themen, Akteure und Ressourcen verbinden, umgesetzt. Den Schwerpunkt der Entwicklung bilden die Lokalen Aktionsgruppen (LAG) aus Vertretern des öffentlichen und privaten Sektors.
